In 1991 an extraordinary coalition of the willing came together with a shared vision of how a center of learning could also serve as a platform upon which to build a stronger community.

Our efforts gave rise to New Song Community Learning Center, an institution that brought together people from all walks of life in an effort to revitalize the Sandtown-Winchester community of West Baltimore.

Harnessing a groundswell of support, community leaders, led by founders Susan and Alan Tibbel, established a pre-K through 8th grade school, New Song Academy a BCPSS Public Charter School.

With a dynamic vision to support the whole child, the school serves as a centerpiece of the Community Learning Center and provides a potent vehicle for bringing to life our ambitions and aspirations for a safer and more vibrant community.
